Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform original and complex metadata creation for resources in all formats according to national and local standards and to assist in the coordination of both the physical cataloging and electronic resources functional areas.

Compensation/Benefits:

Required Qualifications:

·         American Library Association accredited masters' degree in library/information science at date of hire;

·         Minimum of three years of cataloging experience, preferably in an academic or research library;

·         Knowledge of RDA, MARC formats, Library of Congress classification system, and Library of Congress subject headings;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of trends and national standards in cataloging;

·         Experience cataloging using a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC;

·         Experience with library resource management systems, preferably Ex Libris Alma;

·         Strong communication and organization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Demonstrated knowledge of Music Library Association Best Practices for Music Cataloging Using RDA and MARC 21;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of music history, theory, notation and a wide variety of music genres;

·         Experience with electronic resources management;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of serial cataloging;

·         Demonstrated knowledge of database maintenance issues and problems in an academic library resource management system and discovery interface;

·         Working knowledge of foreign languages.
