POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director oversees the daily functions and personnel in TCC's Resource Center and interacts with students on a daily basis. The position is also responsible for TCC's web presence, curation of career development information to meet the needs of stakeholders, and management of data that powers TCC's information systems. This position serves as primary liaison between the center and IT professionals and reports to the Associate Director for Career and Professional Connections who reports to the Director of The Career Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific to this Position
* Direct daily functions of TCC's Resource Center, including supervision of front desk staff and overseeing supervision of student employees
* Serve as the primary liaison with IT support personnel and develop partnerships with other campus information personnel who maintain TCC's servers and backend web applications
* Maintain and update databases which are essential for daily operations
* Lead the TCC Website team and ensure front-end web content is updated, accessible, and usable.
* Consult on development of existing and new web-based applications in collaboration with staff, campus experts, and vendors
* Evaluate, purchase, and implement technologies for data collection, event registration, and payment
* Select, purchase, and organize career development resources (online and in print), including circulating collection, reference collection, magazines, software, web-based subscriptions, and other resources; oversee inventory and condition of materials and usage of resources; and direct cataloging of new materials
* Hire, train, and supervise a Graduate Assistant and other student staff, as needed
* Assist students, visitors, and staff in locating online and print resources; act as a resource for staff and students seeking in-depth career information; inform staff of collection resources and new online information
* Prepare and manage a budget for information resources and technology; assist with planning and budgeting for hardware
* Collect, analyze, and report metrics for use of website and information resources

* Coach students one-on-one and in groups regarding career exploration and decision-making, preparation for graduate/professional school, and finding jobs and internships
* Engage diverse student populations and offices that serve underrepresented students
* Assess student learning outcomes, make evidence-based decisions, and facilitate continuous improvement
* Serve as a liaison to designated departments and offices and maintain relationships with campus partners
* Create and deliver presentations for a variety of audiences, including students, families, campus partners, and external colleagues
* Contribute to the design, creation, and maintenance of print and online resources
* Participate in professional development activities and associations
* Serve on The Career Center, Student Affairs and/or campus committees, task forces, work groups, and advisory committees
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
* Master's degree
* Experience in the field of information sciences, which may include experience with databases, content management systems, or servers
* Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification and Integrated Library Systems
* Demonstrated excellent customer service and public relations skills
* Experience serving diverse populations and knowledge of cultural differences
* Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work priorities
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Information Sciences, Library & Information Science, or related field. Master's degree in another field is acceptable if accompanied by a second degree (bachelor's, master's, or doctoral) in Information Sciences or closely related field
* Experience in higher education, and/or working with college students
* Supervision and project management experience
* Experience managing databases and content management systems
* Familiarity with one or more of the following: Koha, Drupal, WordPress, PHP, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, SQL databases, UBUNTU
Appointment Type
Regular twelve month, 100% academic professional appointment
Salary Range and Starting Date
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Starting date is as soon as possible after close of search.
