Hello,
The Program Officer for Communications at ALCTS has updated the website
address for this webinar.

Title: ALCTS webinar: Managing and Implementing License Agreements, Part 2

Date: Wednesday, September 5, 2018

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 AM Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 PM Central, and 2 PM Eastern time.

This is the third session in a six-part series. View the other sessions in
this series <http://www.ala.org/alcts/confevents/upcoming/webinar/Iicensing>
.

During this six-part webinar series, attendees will learn the fundamental
structure of contracts, commonly used terms, and how to address
indemnification clauses, constraints on use permissions, problems of legal
jurisdiction, perpetual access rights, and some more recent developments
such as the pursuit of text and data mining rights. Contributors will also
explore some complex legal issues and other aspects of electronic resources
management including how to maintain positive working relationships with
vendors, track important changes in business models and technologies, and
control costs. Above all, attendees should understand how licensing does
not occur in a vacuum, but must be well grounded in a complex chain of
information exchange within and beyond the library, all of which should be
undertaken to support the library’s mission as understood and implemented
by the library administration.

administration

your collection development strategies and policies

-Translating licenses into your administrative and technical ecosystems

-Suggestions for Further Reading

Learning outcomes:

This webinar is part two of the previous licensing webinar “Managing and
Implementing Licenses within Your Library and Institution, Part I”, and
will build on knowledge learned in that part one. Attendees should
understand the fundamental structure of licenses and commonly used terms
and clauses. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the impact
and integration of licenses on acquisitions and collections work, as well
as the effective coordination of licensing information with other library
units. This session will also delve into how to translate licenses into
your administrative and technical ecosystems, including a discussion of
tools that facilitate these processes.

Who should attend?

Those unfamiliar with licensing electronic resources will benefit from this
session. Skilled practitioners will benefit from the discussion of specific
techniques and tools for coordinating license information with other
processes within their library.

Presenter:

Jennifer W. Bazeley has a BM and an MM in viola performance from the
Eastman School of Music, and an MLIS from Dominican University. She has
worked in technical services at the DePaul University Library, the Field
Museum Library, and the Cincinnati Art Museum Library. She has worked for
the Miami University Libraries (Oxford, OH) since November 2009, and is
currently an Associate Librarian, Coordinator of Collection Access and
