Job Description or Duties: The Coordinator for Access Services/Asst or Assoc Professor (CAS) is responsible for maintaining access to the Library and its information collections by coordinating policies and procedures and supervising all staff involved in circulation services, InterLibrary Loan and related functions. This is a twelve-month tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Dean of the Library. The CAS consults with the Dean of the Library on matters affecting public services and policies, and on all matters pertaining to the security, maintenance and use of the library building. This highly visible position involves actively assisting library patrons and monitoring multiple library functions. The CAS serves as backup for InterLibrary Loan operations. Is the University Library's primary liaison to the Facilities Management and Campus Police departments, oversees the library's Disaster Preparedness Plan and Emergency Procedures, and serves as liaison in campus-wide emergency planning. The CAS serves as liaison to selected academic departments and, along with other librarians, provides in person and online research assistance and instruction to individuals in the use of the library's services and resources. Analyzes Library statistics for use in assessing library services and creating summaries for reports. Facilitates collaboration across Library units. Is a key leader in planning activities. Represents the Access Services Unit of the UNK Library within the Access Services Working Group of the University of Nebraska Consortium of Libraries. The person in this position will occasionally work evening, weekend and unexpected hours. Along with the Coordinator for Public Services and the Coordinator for Technology Services, the CAS serves on the Dean's management team.

Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library Science. Management and supervisory experience in the access services or circulation department of an academic or larger public library. Experience providing basic reference service, using online databases, library catalogs, etc. Familiarity with building maintenance procedures and controls. Flexibility to adjust schedule for peak activity periods and emergencies. Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with library and campus colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in InterLibrary Loan services. Experience with SpringShare software, including especially LibInsight, E-Reserves & Document Management tools, but also LibGuides, LibAnswers, LibCal, LibStaffer, and Libwizard. The ability to retrieve and analyze data with LibInsight, assess operations and services, and implement improvements is required. Familiarity with the ALA Code of Ethics, copyright and open access best practices as they relate to academic libraries. Ability to work toward achieving tenure and promotion.
