Sorry I misread - you were asking about mobile apps.  And then I suspect you too had the issue of the wireless being turned on spontaneously? I wonder if that would be resolved if you use one hotspot/phone and a separate phone for wireless to that?

Set up my phone as a mobile hotspot  and connect a laptop to that hotspot.
