The Publications Committee of the Collection Management Section of ALCTS is sponsoring the Eighth Annual Collection Management & Development Research Forum at the 2017 American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, Sunday June 25th, 2017 at 4:30 pm, McCormick Place West, Room S106A
Lindsay Barnett will describe her research into the usage, recommendation level, subject distribution, and cost of e-book titles purchased through Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA). This research moves beyond looking simply at the number of titles purchased, analyzing the ability of a DDA program to build quality, sustainable e-book collections. Lindsay is Collection Development & Assessment Librarian at the College of Charleston Libraries.
Lisa Romero will describe her analysis of 30 years of research from 118 communication studies journals. Citation data from these journals is used to identify the most relevant scholarly journals in the multi-disciplinary area of communication studies and provide librarians with the data necessary to make responsible collection management decisions that accurately reflect the research needs of communication studies users. Lisa is Head of the Communications Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
