We had to proxy the URL for the admin site. That, or click on the admin site after we’d authenticated on our side by looking up a journal on the site so it would already “see” us as an authorized user before trying to log in to the admin portal. This worked for us with the American Chemical Society site when we were looking for usage stats.

Subject: [Eril-l] two factor authentication
Hi,
How do you manage two factor authentication for admin logins? We subscribe to a few databases (eg. AIAA) that text us a verification code before we're able to login to the admin area. This has been difficult as:
a) we share logins between ER admins
b) we've used our personal cell phones
c) not everyone is in the office at the same time, and
d) there are time limits to authenticate
What strategies have you used to overcome this? eg. an office cell phone, tech solutions, etc. Have you contacted vendors about your concerns and have they switched to another form of two factor authentication?
Thanks,
Lisa
