ALCTS webinar: Embedded URI in MARC: An Essential for Linked Data

Date: Wednesday, October 26, 2016

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

Description:

Session 3 in the series, “From MARC to Linked data
<http://www.ala.org/alcts/confevents/upcoming/webinar/MARCBIBFRAME>” will
focus on preparing for MARC data transition, with a focus on embedding HTTP
URI in MARC data. The subfields that are defined to record HTTP URI, such
as $0, $4, etc., will be covered. Also discussed will be how to transform
revised MARC data in BIBFRAME via available transformation tools. The
process attempts to show that the preparation of moving MARC data toward a
linked data environment, i.e. BIBFRAME, is iterative.

Additional sessions in this series include:

   Library of Congress BIBFRAME Developments
   <http://www.ala.org/alcts/confevents/upcoming/webinar/101216>
