Electronic Resources Librarian
Purdue University Libraries
Purdue University Libraries seeks an Electronic Resources Librarian who will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and evolution of strategies and workflows relating to the acquisitions and management of electronic resources. This position requires a thorough understanding of and experience in all aspects of acquiring, evaluating, incorporating, and supporting ongoing access to electronic resources. This position will take the lead role in managing publisher/vendor license negotiations. This position will collaborate on consortial electronic resources acquisition and licensing activities as needed within the Big Ten Academic Alliance and the Academic Libraries of Indiana and will serve as the designated electronic resources officer. The Electronic Resources Librarian will report to the Assistant Dean for Collections and Access.

This position is classified as administrative/professional.

Required Qualifications:

  *   Master's degree of Library Science or Master's degree of Library Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program.
  *   Two years of experience working within a library setting, specifically involving electronic resources, acquisitions, and/or other related technical services duties.
  *   Familiarity with copyright, fair use, and other intellectual property issues as these pertain to electronic resources.
  *   Knowledge of trends and issues with electronic resources and a commitment to keeping current with changes, including awareness of issues of vendors, packages, aggregators, platforms, licensing, pricing models, and financial and statistical management needs.
  *   Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  *   Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, and document procedures and work-flow.
  *   Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member.
Desired Qualifications:

  *   Experience working with ExLibris products.
  *   Experience working in an academic library.
  *   Experience with electronic resource management, e.g., implementing system support for e-resource workflow, providing and maintaining access to e-resources.
  *   Knowledge of electronic resources and serials cataloging and descriptive standards.
  *   Experience negotiating license agreements for e-resources for an academic library.
  *   Experience assessing library collections and services.
