Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience acquiring, licensing, managing and providing access to electronic resources
- Experience working in an acquisitions module of an ILS
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, exercise flexibility in meeting objectives, and effectively manage multiple projects and assignments
- Knowledge of current issues, standards, and technologies related to acquiring, licensing and managing scholarly electronic resources
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, including evidence of ability to work collegially and collaboratively within and across organizations, as well as with vendors and publishers
- Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, and document procedures and work-flow

Preferred Qualifications
- Broad understanding of the electronic resource environment in an academic library or library consortial setting
- 1 or more years of experience working with the Alma ILS
- Experience in related areas of electronic resource management, such as cataloging or discovery systems
- Understanding of data gathering and analysis techniques to support assessment activities and statistical analysis

Principal duties:
The Assistant Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian is 1 of 2 librarians and 1 university staff position which make up Licensed Resources in Acquisitions. Licensed Resources is one of five units within the Acquisitions Department of the Central Technical Services Division, which serves 16 libraries comprising the General Library System.

This position works closely with staff in Acquisitions, Cataloging, Collection Development, Discovery, Technology, and Web Services and plays an integral role in supporting the management of the e-resource lifecycle, participating in activities related to licensing, purchasing, ordering, payment, access provision, maintenance, discovery, renewal, cancellation, and troubleshooting of the Library's electronic resources.

Specific duties will include:
- Review and negotiate license agreements with publishers/vendors to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms
- Create/maintain administrative login credentials and act as first point of contact between electronic resource vendors and the library, including investigating and coordinating communication with vendors, and University IT and library staff on alleged violations or breaches of licensed e-resources contracts
- Establish and maintain excellent publisher/vendor relationships
- Assist in coordinating acquisition, renewal and cancellation activities with publishers/vendors and staff
- Contribute to development and documentation of procedures and effective workflows for management of electronic resources
- Assist Licensed Resources and other library staff, such as Cataloging, in managing access and maintaining accurate information about electronic resources in the Alma integrated library system and other relevant systems, such as Primo
- Foster a collaborative, inter-departmental approach to problem solving and decision making
- Work closely with other Acquisitions staff and subject librarians to support e-collection development
- Collect and analyze usage data from local, UW-System wide, and vendor/publisher sources and create reports to support purchase and renewal decisions
- Participate on committees, task forces and special projects as appropriate

The University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applicants for the full-time academic staff position of Assistant Electronic Resources Librarian reporting to the Head of Licensed Resources in the Acquisitions Department. The title of Academic Librarian or Senior Academic Librarian will be assigned depending on the credentials of the successful candidate.
