***Cross-posted to multiple lists; please excuse any duplication***
We are pleased to announce that our 2016 Call for Proposals is now open at http://bit.ly/ermigcall2016.
This year's program is called "E-Resources Management Toolkit." The proposal deadline is Friday September 9, 2016.
* This is a free, one-day program hosted by ACRL New England Chapter's Electronic Resources Management Interest Group (ERMIG).
* It will be held on Thursday November 17, 2016, 10am-1pm, at Sherrill Library, Lesley University, Cambridge, MA.
* Free breakfast and registration 9:30-10am; optional dine-around lunch and networking 1-3pm.
With academic libraries spending 60-90% of their collections budgets on electronic resources, and with every e-resource requiring negotiation for price and license terms, implementation of access, marketing, and assessment, etc., what tools, tips, and tricks do we use for our work?
As of 2013, 19% of the 57 ALA-accredited LIS programs appear to offer coursework pertaining to electronic resource management while 73% of job postings posted between September and December 2013 require ERM expertise and experience.
This program aims to help bridge the gap between coursework and practice and to provide key tools and insights for staff who find themselves suddenly responsible for managing electronic resources. However, everyone from all levels of e-resource management experience will benefit from this program. This is an opportunity to share tools, best practices, and tricks for effective e-resource management.
Possible presentations could include, but are certainly not limited to:
* Negotiating techniques
* Evaluating new or existing e-resources
* Methods and tools for data collection and analysis
* Excel or Access tips and tricks
* Your favorite "go-to" tool
* Data visualization methods and tools
* Marketing e-resources
* Building professional relationships with vendors and publishers
