[Eril-l] GeoBib?

Yes, this is basically what I am hearing, too.

They had to redo the whole thing, since it was in Voyager. We migrated as a system to Alma in May, and it's demanded a great deal of our technical staff's time to get all those long-standing creatively crafted tools back up and running.

I believe they just want to verify all the information before sending it out. More info to come.

Hi Tina,

I contacted the UWM reference desk via their chat link a few weeks ago about this issue and they referred me to their specialist who provided the following response:

Yes, it appears that the 1985-2005 Geobib database is no longer available. The data has been archived and we're trying to identify a new way to display it. It was in an Endeavor/Voyager interface which is no longer supported at UW Milwaukee.

The current CGP Contents is still available here: http://guides.library.uwm.edu/c.php?g=56532&p=363510

That link directs to a list of links within a LibGuide. We removed our link, but this seems to be the latest news regarding this issue.

Sounds to me like you're well on your way to becoming a great ERL! Sleuthing is a pretty big part of that job and this is a totally ok topic for this list.

We have a link to GeoBib, too - and it's also going somewhere weird. We're a UW school, too, and I didn't know this was going away, either. (So thanks for the head's up!) I have asked for more investigation from an internal UW listserv that handles collection management. Someone should be able to find out. I'll respond to the list when I have an answer.

Subject: [Eril-l] GeoBib?

Hi All,

This is my first post to this list and I am a new ERL so I hope this is an appropriate question for the list. Our link to GeoBib is broken. We got a 404 directory error. So in searching I found reference to a new link, geobib.lib.uwm.edu however, that link goes someplace bizarre. I can't find an accurate new link. GeoBib seems to be a free resource from AGS/UWM. I contacted AGS and UWM to see if resource is still available and what the new URL is. UWM confirmed the link is not working and *think* the resource is no longer maintained. They suggested that I contact AGS which I have, but I have not had a reply. Anyone know if this resource is really gone? I don't want to remove it from our database list without being more certain.

Thanks,
Tina
