Are you an innovative adopter of technology to manage some aspect of your electronic-resources lifecycle? Are you using Drupal for promoting new acquisitions, Asana for project management, JIRA for ticket tracking, Trello for employee training, Evernote for problem-report screenshots, or Slack for team communication? Or has your library developed open-source tools that fulfill some otherwise unmet need?
The LITA/ALCTS Electronic-Resources Management Interest Group wants you to share your expertise as part of a lightning-round panel at ALA Midwinter in Boston, Sunday, January 10, 1:00-2:30 p.m. We are looking for several people to demonstrate how they are using technology to manage electronic resources in their libraries (especially those that are "not intended for library use"). Depending on how many presenters we get, quick demos will be from 5 to 10 minutes each and will cover the following questions:
* What needs were not being adequately met that led you to adopt this tool?
* How does it work? (Quick demo of its main features)
* How difficult/costly was the implementation of the tool?
* How well does the tool meet the needs that led to its adoption?
To express interest in presenting as part of our panel, please visit http://goo.gl/forms/0IWxNiYgKe and fill out a brief questionnaire by November 15. You will be asked to name the technology you'd like to present on as well as the needs it was chosen to fulfill. In general, we will accept presenters on a first-come first-served basis, so please fill out the form as soon as possible if you intend to be at Midwinter. We expect to notify selected presenters by December 1.
Contact IG co-chairs Robert Heaton (robert.heaton at usu.edu<mailto:robert.heaton at usu.edu>) or Buddy Pennington (penningtonb at umkc.edu<mailto:penningtonb at umkc.edu>) with any questions.
