Position Available with GALILEO<www.galileo.usg.edu>, Georgia’s Virtual Library, an initiative of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.  GALILEO is both an online library portal and a program of services.  Participating institutions may access over 100 databases<http://about.galileo.usg.edu/institutions/database_listing> indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals, ebooks, encyclopedias, and unique digital collections about the history and culture of Georgia. Communities served include Georgia’s public and private academic libraries, public libraries, and K12 schools and media centers.

The Assistant Director leads a team of SMEs/Business Analysts (levels I-III) that are responsible for customer support, marketing, training, planning, analysis, functional design and testing, configuration, maintenance, and/or enhancements to the GALILEO program and system.  The Assistant Director works with the Director and other team members to develop common standards and procedures for program and system maintenance, enhancements, quality assurance, and testing procedures. Tasks are varied in nature and often time critical. Coordinates interaction with a diverse, complex, and demanding customer base, vendors, administrators, and other stakeholders. The services and applications supported are both complex and critical to the academic mission of individual campuses and the University System of Georgia as well as the diverse needs of the library communities served.

GALILEO is a complex and growing service. The type of projects and related services will vary and may be significant in scope. Activities and decisions of the Assistant Director for GALILEO Support Services are varied in nature, requiring independent action and judgment in solving common problems, subject to system-wide policies and procedures.
